Why see a Chiropractor during Pregnancy?
During pregnancy, a woman’s body changes drastically – structurally, chemically, and emotionally. It is a time of incredible change and growth for the mother and the baby. While this transformation is beautiful, it can also be accompanied by physical discomfort and stress on the body.
Our nervous system plays a critical role in controlling various body functions, including those related to pregnancy. As the body undergoes significant changes, the nervous system may become disrupted, leading to discomfort and other health concerns.
Chiropractic adjustments are designed to correct misalignments in the spine, which can put pressure on nerves and disrupt the body’s natural functions. It can also help reduce stress on the nervous system by alleviating pain and discomfort. Many pregnant women experience lower back pain, pelvic pain, and other discomforts that can lead to stress and tension throughout the body. Chiropractic adjustments can target these areas of pain, reducing stress and tension and promoting relaxation. As a result, the nervous system can function optimally, and the body can better support a healthy pregnancy and delivery.
Why your Chiropractor should be Webster-certified
A Webster Certified Chiropractor is a chiropractor who has completed specialized training in prenatal chiropractic care covering the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment with the goal of reducing the effects of subluxation (altered position of the vertebra) and/or SI joint dysfunction.
It involves assessing and adjusting the pelvis to reduce stress on the uterus and allow for proper fetal positioning. By restoring proper alignment, tension is removed from the uterus and surrounding ligaments, allowing the baby to move more freely. This can reduce the likelihood of complications during labor and delivery, such as a breech presentation.
